Hello! You have found your way to my original Fitness pages (lucky you).
This site is primarily a resource for anyone whom is wanting to excel in their Body for Life challenge.
Here you will discover the things that I learned on my way to my winning 12 week challenge, completed in 2003 (those are some
of my 'after' photo's to the right). For my more recent goings on and some ideas about how to progress after your challenge,
please drop in to my blog and check out my most ambitious project, Sana Direct.
The photographs on this site document my physical changes from October 2002 to December 2003. I really wish that
I had a photograph of me a few years before that first 'before' pic so that you could see how far I had already come from
true blimpdom.. However, blimps are known to be camera shy and there are no photo's of me at my heaviest - 22kg more squidgy
than I am now.
Sometime in 2002 I discovered a book called 'Body for Life'.. I can't remember how exactly - it may have fallen from the
sky. This book set me on the path and inspired me towards becoming the person I am today. A person who thinks
about food and training and how to get chinky abs at nearly every waking moment. Watch out, this could happen
to you too!
In my first challenge I followed the BFL program to the letter. In my second challenge I made a few modifications,
mostly under the instruction of my PT, Brendon Rabbitt, here in Christchurch, NZ. I can't quite remember how Brendon came
to be my PT but I think he outed me as a BFLer at the gym one day after I turned up in the top 2000 for my first challenge.
Before that I was BFLing in secret. After all, it seems so unreal to be able to change yourself so dramatically in just 12
weeks. Brendon told me about Jared Horomona, a BFL champ from NZ and I became absurdly interested in doing another challenge.
So.. it all began, after a small hitch when I was rushed to hospital with a kidney problem (well, not exactly rushed.. more
about that later). I worked my ass off for three months and thanks to Brendons knack for inflicting
all sorts of pain, I achieved my goals in my second challenge and actually WON my age category here in NZ AND got to see my
before photo up on the big screen (that was a 'make it go away' moment).... luckily they must have mislaid the one
from the year before.
All of my sites are in constant evolution so keep checking back. If you want to email me, that would be great.
It's always useful to meet other fitness obsessives to join me in taking over the world (did I say that out loud?)
